  • Pleuroceras were small ammonites with a particularly beautifully ribbed shell with a serrated keel running around the outside. The meaning is "ribbed horn" and they were fast moving carnivores that lived in marine waters of what is now the UK, Algeria, Austria, France, Germany, Spain and Canada in the Lower Jurassic 189-183 Million years ago. Shells of different species can reach up to 140mm in diameter.
